Our San Francisco Hearing Aid Specialists Can Help You Find the Right Device

You’re finally ready to take control of your hearing loss, only to be overwhelmed by the number of choices in front of you. There are so many different kinds and styles of hearing aids, and you’re not sure which one is going to be the best fit for your condition. The last thing you want is to invest in a device that you don’t want to wear—especially if it is an expensive model. So how can you narrow down the choices and find the right hearing aid for you? The hearing care specialists at True Sound Hearing Aid Center will take the time to learn about you and match your hearing device to your lifestyle.

Find the High-Tech Hearing Aid That Meets Your Needs

The first thing you should realize about hearing aids is that there is no “one size fits all” solution. Hearing aids have come a long way over the last few years, allowing those with hearing loss to adapt their hearing devices to their lifestyle instead of the other way around. At True Sound Hearing Aid Center, we evaluate both your hearing condition and your specific needs to help you find the device that will allow you to live your life to the fullest.

Hearing aids come in a variety of shapes and technologies and can accommodate people with different lifestyle and situations. For example, some people are very active, enjoy going to restaurants, to the movies, socializing with friends in noisy places as well as using a mobile phone, while others might be happy homebodies, staying at home or in quiet situations most of the time. These two distinctly different lifestyles put vastly different demands on hearing aids and require different solutions. Today’s hearing aids offer:

  • Simple technology for quiet lifestyles. Designed specifically to give the best results for people who enjoy a relatively quiet life, the simplest devices allow you to hear clearly but are easy to use and inexpensive.
  • Moderate technology for more active lifestyles. For people who participate in outdoor activities, attend social events with family and friends, attend meetings with groups of people, and use a cellphone, mid-range technology features can make all of these activities easier.
  • Premium and advanced technologies for demanding lifestyles. Incorporating all of the latest developments in sound processing and wireless connectivity, high-end hearing aids are designed especially for people who want to get the most out of every situation. Noisy restaurants, attending concerts and the theater, business situations, travel, and using tech devices present unique problems for hearing loss sufferers and premium hearing aids can solve many of them.

Modern Design Meets Comfort in New Hearing Aid Models

Our hearing care professionals can answer your questions and help you choose from our wide range of high-performance devices, including:

Completely-in-the-canal (CIC) instrumentCompletely-in-the-Canal (CIC)

These hearing devices are custom-fitted to the inside of each patient’s ear canal, making them virtually invisible to the naked eye. The battery and receiver are both contained in a tiny device that fits completely inside the ear, offering the most discreet form of hearing correction. A great option for people with mild to moderate hearing loss, CIC models do not offer a lot of additional features due to their extremely small size.

In-the-canal (ITC) instrumentIn-the-Canal (ITC)

Slightly larger than CIC models, the ITC hearing aid fits inside the ear canal with the outside of the device faintly visible. These devices are molded to the inside of the ear for a comfortable fit even after hours of use, and come in a variety of colors to match each wearer’s skin tone. Easier to insert and remove than CIC models, ITC models are also intended for people with mild to moderate hearing loss.

In-the-ear (ITE) instrumentIn-the-Ear (ITE)

Although still custom-fitted, ITE hearing aids are one size larger than ITC devices. These models sit inside the wearer’s ear bowl, but allow easy access to volume controls and offer quick and easy removal. They are small and discreet, but large enough to offer telecoil and other features that make them more convenient for people with more severe hearing loss who lead active lifestyles.

Behind-the-ear (BTE) instrumentBehind-the-Ear (BTE)

These devices are a popular choice for hearing loss sufferers, and are used to correct nearly every degree of hearing loss. The hearing aid itself sits behind the ear and a tube connects it to the receiver, which is placed inside the ear canal. These devices are popular with patients of all ages as they are easy to insert and remove and have ready access to volume controls. BTE devices are the best option for people with profound hearing loss.
